Therefore, the collaboration of the City Administrations on the provincial territory is essential for the success in welcoming and giving hospitality to the teams, according to the formula already experienced in the previous editions of the tournament. Thanks to the Municipality and the Provincial Administration of Teramo, a series of preliminary and organizational meetings to develop the collaboration are taking place during these days, whereas the operational phase discussed during a meeting with the clubs of the regional capital in Pescara c/o the offices of the Regional Committee of the Italian Handball Federation concerning the decentralisation of some matches in the cities of Pescara, L’Aquila and Chieti has already been actuated.

Sports & Cultural Exchanges

In the meanwhile, as far as the participations are concerned, a strong worldwide enthusiasm on the tournament is growing; we have the confirmation of particularly interesting countries and the request for a series of sports & cultural exchanges with foreign organizations. An example is a request from Portugal who will be present in Teramo with the club F.C. Porto and an important sports organization of a Russian school, Nevskay Volna of Saint Petersborg who will be represented by two female teams at the Interamnia Cup.

New enrolments

Particularly appealing is the enrolment of Nepal who is taking part in the Interamnia World Cup for the first time with an Under 16 male team from Katmandu. Also from Asia,  Quatar is coming back, after their previous participation in 1993.

From Africa, instead, after their victory in 2001, Nigeria is coming back for the 40^th edition of the tournament with an Under 12 and an Under 14 male team from the strong club Ondo S.S.C. However, Gabon is not less important and is coming to Teramo after its previous participation in 1987 with two national male teams: an Under 16 one and an Under 18 one.

Even Argentina, already winner in the 32^nd edition of 2004 with their national Under 18 team, is coming back: for the 40^th edition, the Handball Federation has enrolled a team of the same category; whereas Venezuela will be present with a national representative Under 30 male team.

To close the loop of the new enrolments received, we have Moldavia and Romania who, thanks to the massive presence of their teams, is at the 16^th place on the general rankings of the tournament; Greenland will be participating with their Under 18 male and female national teams; Honduras will be participating with two Under 30 male and female teams from Tegucigalpa. Furthermore, Marocco at their second participation and the club Gezira from Alessandria with a female team and their sixth participation for a total of 9 teams.

The sport and cultural association Interamnia World Cup supports and promotes “40^th Interamnia World Cup”, which a great number of youth handball teams from all over the world will participate in. Moreover, the Association has presented an international contest called “Il leader di domani” (“the leader of tomorrow”) addressed to children and kids aged 8-12 years  belonging to any school or nationality. At the contest You can participate under the aegis of a school or individually, with individual works or team works  who can be literary, artistic or multimedia.

Participation Requests Forms (Attachment 2) duly filled shall be sent by the 30^th of March 2012, via e-mail, fax or mail to the address written at the bottom of this announcement.

Works and Entry Forms (Attachment 3) shall be received by the Contest Organisational Offices by the 15^th of May 2012, via e-mail, fax or mail to the address written at the bottom of this announcement, along with:

-          title

-          name, surname and age of the author (or of the participating class or group)

-          form

-          school address

-          name and address of the teacher, parent or tutor in charge

-          e-mail address of the school and of the teacher, parent or tutor in charge

An “African” Interamnia Cup

A hymn for unity and peace in the World and an important moment for the promotion of handball are the legacy that the team from Kenya, who took part in the Interamnia World Cup last year, took back to their country as a model to imitate and spread. In fact, on the occasion of the 40^th event in Teramo, the Interamnia World Cup Kenya Edition has been created “to promote peace and create a spirit of unity and solidarity in our country which has been a victim of tribal conflicts”, as the managers of the African team stated. For the categories Under 20 and Under 13, about 50 schools of the Kericho County have been invited to the tournament. The aim is to increase the growth of sport and of handball in a country so tormented by conflicts and also to choose the players who will take part in the 40^th Edition of the tournament in Teramo.

New Enrolments

 AFRICA– Other teams will also enrich the African participation in the Interamnia Cup 2012. Up to today, the record of enrolments from as many as 61 countries of the 5 continents has already been reached. In particular,Angola, whose Ministry of Sport has authorised the participation of two national female teams (Under 16 and Under 18) in preparation of the World championships for those categories. Another interesting participation is the one fromCongowho are coming back to the Interamnia Cup after 24 years of absence, with an Under 21 male national representative team.

ASIA – For the first time in Teramo two “youth” Federations will be present: one from Uzbekistan, created in 1992, taking part with an Under 18 male representative team, and one from Turkmenistan, created only 20 years ago and who is entering the international limelight on the occasion of the 40^th Interamnia World Cup with an Under 21 female national representative team. The celebration of the important anniversary of the tournament favours the return of the Indian teams: three male national representative ones, whereas in the past as many as nine teams had taken part. A national representative team will also be present fromHong Kong who will be taking part in the tournament for the fourth time with an Under 16 male team. As far asSaudi Arabia is concerned, they are coming back to the tournament with an Under 18 male team of the club Al-Mhet, whereasBangladesh is taking part in the tournament with an Under 18 female team fromDhaka.

AMERICA – From the American continent, Canada is at the 18th place on the general ranking of the countries, reaching as many as 100 teams participating, with two Under 18 teams, a male one and a female one, from the State of Alberta; however, after their last participation in 2004, the USA will also be present with an Under 30 male team from the club D.C. Diplomat of Baltimora.

EUROPE – Massive as usual the European participation which registers, up to now and with a view to the high number of teams representing all the countries of the continent, the presence of two teams from Malta, 4 teams from the club I.F. Valur Reykjavik from Iceland and one Under 16 female team coming from the Finland city of Dickens. Finally, one of the most prominent clubs inTurkey, Besiktas J.K., will be in Teramo with two Under 16 and Under 18 male teams.

From Libya, the TV at the 40th Interamnia World Cup

Particularly important is the presence of the Libyan TV at the celebrations of the 40th Interamnia World Cup, notwithstanding the delicate political moment that the North African country is experiencing. Thanks to the passion and devotion to the event and to the city ofTeramo, the television journalist Ali Albussif, who has been present at the tournament during the past 14 years, has ensured his presence with a television troupe who will document the important appointment.

It is a splendid opportunity to meet colleagues, make friends and begin a week full of sport and friendship.
